Three row operations
Swap two rows, multiply a row by a number that is not 0, or add a multiple of one row to another. None of them changes the solutions, so you can use them as often as you like.
Find the determinant and inverse of a 2×2 or 3×3 matrix, multiply matrices, and solve systems of equations — with each row operation and the matrix after it, in exact fractions.
Whole numbers, decimals and fractions such as 3/4 or −1/2 all work. The answers stay as exact fractions.

Work out the determinant first. If it is 0, the matrix has no inverse, and a system with that matrix has either no solution or infinitely many.
Everything is worked out in your browser and nothing is saved. The address bar keeps the numbers, so a link opens the same working.
Our tutors guide Grade 11 and Grade 12 students through determinants, inverses and systems until every step makes sense.
